The story behind nim

An exciting bunch of creatives pushing the boundaries of branding

Growing up as a shy, quiet – slightly plum child – meant that life wasn’t all rainbows and marshmallows as one would think. There was a little bit of teasing and bullying that had to be endured which led to this child with heaps of ideas, ambition and creativity to be quiet, unconfident and scared. What if people laughed at him, what if the bullying got worse, what if my ideas and dreams were ridiculed?

That’s enough to put anyone in the shell and lock the door behind them! This was not a great mentality growing up but you’re young, you don’t know any better, you think the strongest most confident in the room in the one who is right.

No judgement, no teasing, just a pair of ears that listened.

One day he got a new neighbour. After school they would sit on the kerb looking up at the stars talking about dreams, crazy ideas and those big “what if” moments. This was were that shy, quiet kid found his voice. There was no judgement, no teasing, just a pair of ears that listened, challenged and encouraged. This person was the only person to ever call me nim.

Nicknames can last forever

nim, is a nickname; something that can be given to you by the people who know you best, something that can be developed over time or happen in a moment, however, this requires understanding a person, being connected, sharing experiences, picking them up when they’re down and pushing them further to be the best they can. Some nicknames come and go, but a childhood nickname will stay with you forever.

The boy becomes confident, strong, opinionated, openly-ambitious, fearless, inquisitive and most of all himself whenever he was around
his neighbour-friend. He finally had a voice

How will I compete, what if I fail?

This journey of discovery can be the same for the young, ambitious businesses of the world. They might be shy and quiet looking at all the bigger, stronger businesses thinking “how will I compete, what if I fail.”
All they need is the right neighbour to sit on the kerb with. They need a creative counterpart that believes in the dreams so much that they want to do everything their power to help them achieve them.
